Job summary

MPJ Recruitment is seeking a Vehicle Engineer to join an established automotive team in Tees Valley. You will maintain, service, diagnose and repair vehicles to manufacturer standards, ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop safe and in excellent condition.

The role offers a competitive salary (30,000–52,000 GBP DOE) with uncapped bonuses, enhanced overtime rates and flexible working options. Various patterns can be considered to fit around lifestyle.

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed work orders and record repairs, parts used and labour time.
• Perform vehicle testing with diagnostic equipment to identify faults.

• Complete routine servicing and scheduled maintenance.
• Prepare vehicles for handover and ensure safety standards.

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Vehicle Engineer to join an established automotive team, offering an excellent salary package, uncapped bonus potential and a genuinely flexible approach to working hours.

The Role

As a Vehicle Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, diagnosing and repairing vehicles to manufacturer standards while ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop safe and in excellent condition.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Completing detailed work orders, accurately recording repairs, parts used and labour time.
• Carrying out vehicle testing and using specialist measuring and diagnostic equipment to identify faults.
• Producing accurate diagnostic findings and communicating technical information to the Workshop Controller.
• Interpreting manufacturer technical information, repair instructions and specifications.
• Completing routine servicing and scheduled maintenance.
• Removing and installing vehicle components in line with approved manufacturer repair methods.
• Carrying out comprehensive vehicle health checks and identifying additional areas requiring attention.
• Preparing new and Approved Used vehicles for customer handover.
• Completing technical repairs in accordance with documented procedures and manufacturer standards.
• Identifying additional faults outside the original repair scope and ensuring these are accurately recorded and communicated.
• Maintaining accurate records of labour, parts and materials used.
• Ensuring all completed vehicles meet required safety standards before being returned to customers.
• Protecting customer vehicles throughout the repair and servicing process.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.

About You

We're looking for a technically capable and conscientious Vehicle Engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Vehicle Engineer or Motor Vehicle Technician.
• Strong servicing, repair and diagnostic knowledge.
• The ability to interpret manufacturer technical information and repair procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on safety.
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider workshop team.
• A professional approach to customer vehicles and workplace standards.
• Relevant automotive qualifications are highly desirable.
