Job summary

Alexander Dennis is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Builder to join our Scarborough production team. You’ll fit and assemble components to bus and coach body structures in line with design and customer specifications, building vehicles safely and efficiently.

Working with Team Leaders, Engineering and Quality, you’ll contribute to delivering high-quality vehicles on time while maintaining a safe, tidy working environment and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Able to use hand and power tools safely.
• Able to read instructions, specifications and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble components to bus/coach body structures per design and customer specifications.
• Work at Scarborough production facility to ensure safety and quality.
• Collaborate with Team Leaders, Engineering and Quality to deliver vehicles on time and to specification.

What You’ll Do

As a Vehicle Builder, you'll be responsible for fitting and assembling components to bus and coach body structures in line with design and customer specifications. Working within the Scarborough production facility, you'll ensure vehicles are built safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll work both independently and as part of a close‑knit production team, collaborating with Team Leaders, Engineering, Quality and fellow colleagues to deliver vehicles on time and to specification.

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for practical, hands‑on individuals who take pride in quality workmanship and safe working practices. You'll have experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment and be confident using a range of hand and power tools. You'll be comfortable working from instructions, specifications and engineering drawings, able to manage your own tasks with minimum supervision, and committed to maintaining a safe, tidy working environment at all times.

Bonus if you have:

• A time‑served apprenticeship in vehicle assembly
• A certificate of apprenticeship in a craft or allied trade
• A minimum NVQ Level 2 in a relevant craft or engineering discipline
