Job summary

Alexander Dennis Limited in Scarborough is seeking a Test & Development Technician to join our workshop team. In this hands‑on role you’ll support the development and validation of our vehicles, carrying out electrical and mechanical tasks to prepare test rigs and vehicles for verification activities.

You will work closely with engineers, build and instrument vehicles, interpret engineering drawings, and contribute to testing both on‑site and at external facilities.

What You’ll Do

As a Technician in our Test & Development team, you’ll play a hands‑on role in supporting the development and validation of our vehicles. Based in our Scarborough workshop, you’ll carry out electrical and mechanical tasks to prepare vehicles and test rigs for verification activities.

Working closely with engineers, you’ll build, modify, and instrument vehicles to support testing both on‑site and at external facilities. This is a varied and practical role where you’ll contribute directly to innovation, product quality, and performance, while working in a fast‑paced and evolving engineering environment.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a practical and self‑motivated individual with a strong automotive engineering background. You’ll have experience working with electrical and mechanical systems and be confident interpreting engineering drawings and carrying out fault finding.

You’ll be comfortable working independently or as part of a team, capable of solving problems and meeting deadlines in a hands‑on workshop environment. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach are key to success in this role.

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with high voltage or CAN systems
• Knowledge of instrumentation and data logging equipment
• PSV or HGV licence
• Experience in vehicle testing or development environments
