Job summary

Escape is recruiting an experienced Vehicle Assembly Technician for a specialist vehicle manufacturer in East Kilbride. This hands-on role involves assembling vehicle components across multiple build stages, using drawings and instructions to ensure quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on mechanical skills.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to work from technical instructions or drawings.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly and fitting of vehicle components and systems
• Build vehicle modules and sub-assemblies
• Fit panels, brackets, fasteners, seals, hoses and pipework
• Install low-voltage wiring, connectors and sensors
• Work from engineering drawings, build instructions and specifications
• Use hand tools, power tools and calibrated torque tools
• Carry out quality inspections and build checks
• Test mechanical, electrical and fluid systems
• Diagnose and rectify build faults
• Support prototype, first-off and development builds
• Complete build, inspection and quality documentation
• Work closely with engineering and production teams

Vehicle Assembly Technician

We are recruiting experienced Vehicle Assembly Technicians / Mechanical Technicians for a specialist vehicle manufacturer based in East Kilbride.

This is a hands-on, varied position working within low-volume vehicle manufacturing rather than a repetitive production-line environment.

You’ll work across different stages of the vehicle build, including mechanical assembly, systems integration, electrical fitment, inspection, testing, diagnostics and fault rectification.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly and fitting of vehicle components and systems
• Build vehicle modules and sub-assemblies

Experience

Experience could come from automotive, commercial vehicles, HGV, plant, agricultural equipment, defence, specialist vehicles or complex manufacturing.

You’ll need:

• Strong hands-on mechanical skills
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Ability to work from technical instructions or drawings
• Good mechanical fault-finding ability
• High attention to detail
• Strong approach to quality and safety
• Full UK driving licenceExperience with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, braking, steering, driveline or diagnostics would be advantageous.
