A global group is looking to recruit a VAT compliance specialist, to join their London office.

This role focuses on ensuring compliance with indirect tax obligations for a global group. It is a hands-on position with primary responsibility for meeting the group's global indirect tax compliance requirements. Responsibilities include preparing or reviewing indirect tax filings in various countries.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing Indirect Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate delivery of indirect tax declarations, including preparation and review of group VAT, and statistical declarations for multiple locations.
• Collaboration with Outsourced Providers: Work closely with outsourced tax compliance service providers to provide data, prepare, or review returns. Assist in the internal preparation of certain indirect tax returns.
• Control Checks: Perform VAT balance sheet reconciliations and work with the business to identify and resolve issues related to returns.
• Operational Support: Act as the operational point of contact for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable teams, and general business/operational VAT queries. Respond to inquiries from the business or tax authorities.
• Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits.
• Process Improvement: Assist the team with process improvement initiatives, including identifying opportunities and supporting new process/system change rollouts.
• Documentation: Ensure all VAT and indirect tax processes are documented in the tax operating manual.
• Liaison with Tax Advisory Team: Understand transactions and their impact on reporting. Stay updated on changes in indirect tax legislation in relevant countries and share knowledge for practical application.

Needed:

• Experience: Proven experience in indirect tax compliance.
• Knowledge: Understanding of UK indirect tax principles and EU rules.
• Skills: Proficiency in IT and Excel; experience with SAP is preferred.
