Job summary

The Thames Valley Vascular Network is seeking a Consultant in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery based in Oxford. The post covers the full range of elective and emergency endovascular and open vascular procedures, including aortic and carotid work, with on-call and cross-network leave cover.

You will teach students and junior doctors, participate in research as part of daily clinical activity, and work with three NHS trusts to develop patient pathways and maintain service standards.

Qualifications

• MRCS/FRCS or equivalent qualification in vascular surgery.
• Specialist training in vascular surgery.
• CCT or equivalent UK-based qualification or evidence of equivalence for non-UK trained surgeons.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full range of elective and emergency endovascular and open vascular surgery in Oxford.
• Provide cross-cover for colleagues' leave across the network.
• Take part in the Consultant of the Week on-call arrangement, with responsibility for in-patients when off site.
• Manage aortic disorders, including complex repairs, with the cardiac service.
• Perform carotid endarterectomy and carotid stenting.
• Manage complex peripheral vascular disease and diabetic foot.
• Teach clinical students and train junior doctors.
• Carry out research as part of everyday clinical activity.
• Work with NHS trusts to develop patient pathways and follow local policies.
