Job summary

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a technical support assistant for the Assessor Service within Valuation for Non‑Domestic Rating and Council Tax. The role focuses on maintaining the Council Tax Valuation List and Valuation Roll, surveying properties, and creating digital files using in-house systems.

You will join a team, undertake on‑the‑job training, and bring good literacy and numeracy along with IT proficiency. The post is temporary, 35 hours per week, with a salary in the mid-£20k range.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Competent using various IT software packages.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Able to work as part of a team or individually.

Responsibilities

• Survey, measurement and inspection of properties.
• Creation and maintenance of digital property files.
• Operation of in-house computer systems and databases.
• Organising workload to meet deadlines and make best use of resources.
• Preparation of survey reports.
• Research and collate information for appeals and valuations.
• Work as part of a team.
