Job summary

NOCN Group is seeking a UX Designer to join the Digital Services team. The role blends remote work with on-site collaboration in Sheffield, shaping designs from discovery through delivery with a focus on accessibility and user-centred outcomes.

You’ll conduct research, partner with developers and data teams, and push for a strong design language and reusable patterns while leveraging AI tools to speed up insights and prototypes.

Qualifications

• Level 2 literacy and numeracy.
• Degree in Design, HCI, Psychology or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Evidence of continuous professional development in UX research, interaction design, accessibility, AI tooling.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum, discovery-led environments.
• Proven experience planning and running user research and translating findings into design decisions.
• Strong design thinking and ability to explain decisions.
• Portfolio of prototypes and delivered services.
• Proficiency with Figma.
• Knowledge of WCAG and inclusive design.
• Ability to facilitate workshops with stakeholders.
• Exceptional use of AI tools to support research and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run discovery and evaluative research (interviews, usability testing, surveys).
• Translate research into insights, personas, journey maps, and prioritized opportunities.
• Facilitate workshops and design thinking sessions with the team.
• Design wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows in Figma for rapid user testing.
• Utilise AI tooling to accelerate research synthesis and ideation.
• Collaborate with developers and data teams to move from validated design to working software.
• Champion accessibility and inclusive design across products.
• Develop a shared design language and reusable pattern library.
• Help set design direction within NOCN and raise the team's design standards.
