Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in the United Kingdom is seeking a UX Designer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role blends design and research to shape Qualifications and Professional Development programmes, embedding in multidisciplinary teams in London or Birmingham.

This hybrid role emphasizes accessibility, user-centred design, and collaborative workshops with Product, Tech, and Service Design. Proficiency with Figma, research methods, and prototyping is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing user-centred digital experiences, including user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and interaction design.
• Strong understanding of UX research methods and the ability to apply user insight to design decisions.
• Experience creating intuitive and visually consistent interfaces across web and digital platforms.
• Knowledge of accessibility principles, responsive design and usability best practice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with confidence presenting ideas and facilitating workshops.
• Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Figma, Miro, Hotjar, Clarity and Adobe Creative Suite, alongside a practical understanding of digital technologies and development principles.

• Create user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes and interaction concepts that bring priority future experiences to life.
• Translate research findings, stakeholder insight and service design outputs into clear, practical and testable design solutions.
• Support usability testing, concept evaluation and stakeholder validation, using feedback to refine and improve designs.
• Work closely with Service Design, Product, Business Analysis and Technology teams to ensure designs reflect operational requirements and technical constraints.
• Apply accessibility standards, design-system patterns and reusable components to create consistent and inclusive experiences.
• Produce clear design documentation and contribute actively to workshops, design reviews and sprint activities, highlighting risks and dependencies early.

Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

As a UX Designer, you will help design and validate the future experiences that underpin the Qualifications and Professional Development programme. Working under the direction of the UX Design Lead, you will turn research, insight and service design outputs into practical, accessible and user-centred experiences.

You will work as an embedded member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with UX Research, Service Design, Product Management, Business Analysis, Operations and Technology to support detailed design and implementation planning.
