Job summary

Procter & Gamble, Manchester Plant (Trafford Park), is seeking a utilities technician to support the Pampers manufacturing team. The role focuses on safe, reliable operation of site utilities and driving maintenance improvements. Initial pay is competitive with progression as you qualify within the level 2 pay structure.

The role requires day shifts (7am–3pm), plus on-call and occasional weekend support. Candidates should have strong mechanical skills, relevant apprenticeship, and the ability to

Qualifications

• Time-served mechanical or process apprenticeship or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
• Experience with AHUs, cooling towers, water chillers, glycol systems, pumps, motors and fans.
• Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• IOSH qualification and Permit-to-Work training are advantageous.
• Experience managing subcontractors and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and quality across the utilities area and comply with site procedures.
• Maximise equipment reliability and performance.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in RTT daily management and ensure high-standard inspections.
• Coach and develop apprentices and build RTT capability.
• Manage third-party contractors safely and ensure compliant execution.
