Job summary

SES Water is seeking a Utilities Supervisor to lead Repair & Maintenance teams, delivering safe, efficient operational activities across our water network. This hands-on leadership role will mentor Utilities Fitters and Trainee Fitters, drive performance and champion health and safety.

You will collaborate with colleagues, contractors, customers and stakeholders to ensure right-first-time repairs to the highest standards, supporting planning and complex maintenance delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in the water industry, ideally in repair and maintenance operations.
• Proven leadership, coaching and team development skills.
• Compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support Utilities Fitters and Trainee Utilities Fitters in day-to-day operations.
• Carry out site audits covering quality, safety, traffic management, plant, equipment and working practices.
• Ensure all activities are compliant with health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Support the planning and delivery of complex repair and maintenance activities.
• Liaise with highways authorities, contractors, customers and key stakeholders to coordinate works.
• Drive productivity, operational efficiency and a "right first time" approach.
• Investigate customer complaints and support root cause analysis and service improvements.
• Coach, mentor and develop field teams, identifying training and development needs.
• Support performance reviews and progression assessments.
• Participate in the out-of-hours standby rota to support emergency repair activities.
• Support innovation initiatives and continuous improvement across the business.

About the Role

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience within the water industry, ideally in repair and maintenance operations.
• Strong leadership, coaching and team development skills.
• NRSWA Supervisor Units 1-6 and 9.
• National Water Hygiene Card.
• Health & Safety training and knowledge of safe digging and excavation practices.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
