Job summary

SES Water is seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Production team. You will maintain, repair, test and improve electrical and mechanical assets across water treatment and production sites. The role includes fault finding, planned preventative maintenance, installation work and supporting plant performance improvements.

You may also join an out-of-hours standby rota and collaborate with fellow technicians to ensure safe, reliable facilities for our customers.

Qualifications

• BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in an industrial electrical environment with fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of control panels up to 415V and motor injury prevention.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on electrical and associated plant equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and undertaking repairs on electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
• Working on pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors, dosing equipment and associated assets.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting control panels, motor starters, VSDs and actuators.
• Conducting testing and commissioning activities to ensure equipment performs to specification.
• Supporting installation and upgrade projects across operational sites.
• Producing maintenance reports and recording asset information accurately.
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Supervising or supporting trainees, contractors, and other team members when required.
• Collaborating closely with Mechanical & Electrical Technicians, Systems Technicians, and operational teams.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Electrical Technician to join our Production team. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, and improving a wide range of electrical and mechanical assets across our water treatment and production sites.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our operational facilities remain safe, reliable, and efficient, helping us continue to deliver an essential service to our customers. The role includes fault finding, planned preventative maintenance, installation work, and supporting plant performance improvements across a diverse range of equipment.

You may also be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby rota.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

Essential

• BTEC Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an Electrical Engineering discipline.

• Experience working within an industrial electrical environment.

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

• Experience with electrical installation, maintenance, testing, repairs, and commissioning.

• Knowledge of:

  • Control panels up to 415V

  • Motors and motor starters

  • Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)

  • Actuators and industrial control equipment

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance.

Working Environment

This role offers a varied working environment across operational sites. While much of the work is undertaken indoors, you’ll also work outdoors and in challenging environments such as chambers, tanks, raised platforms, and confined spaces.

Due to the nature of the role, a medical assessment may be required to ensure suitability for confined space and breathing apparatus activities.
