Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter seeks a Urology Oncology Nurse Specialist to lead nurse-led care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Urology Oncology Nurse Specialist

This is a Specialist nursing post which enables the individual to be responsible for aspects of the provision of high-quality Specialist Nursing care to both inpatient and outpatients within the speciality and to provide expert advice and support for patients diagnosed the condition.

This post holder will act as an expert resource for both nursing and medical staff by providing advice, support and education through clinical practice evidence-based development.

There will be close liaison and appropriate referral between all relevant departments, the lead clinician and other services, including those provided by community teams.

The post holder will develop and sustain partnership working with individual groups, communities and agencies.

Facilitate the planning and delivery of care programmes to address patient needs and develop/improve the service.

We're looking for a Urology Cancer Nurse Specialist to join our growing team as we redesign care pathways, strengthen nurse-led services and deliver innovative, patient-centred care closer to home.

In this role youll further develop your specialist skills, delivering nurse-led care as an autonomous practitioner while working as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team. You'll support patients and their families throughout their cancer journey, making a real difference at every stage.

About the role

This role provides specialist support to patients throughout their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. You will run nurse-led clinics, participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, and arrange diagnostic tests and investigations to support timely, effective care.

A key part of the role is communicating cancer diagnoses and recurrences with sensitivity and compassion, discussing treatment options, and helping patients make informed decisions about their care. You will provide ongoing support to patients and their families, including during disease progression and end‑of‑life care.

You will coordinate care across services, making referrals to appropriate support networks and managing treatment‑related side effects and ongoing patient needs, ensuring patients receive holistic, patient‑centred care at every stage of their pathway.

You'll also use research, clinical evidence and emerging best practice to help inform treatment discussions and enhance patient care.

Our service is primarily based across:

• Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford)
• Ottery St Mary Community Hospital, home to our dedicated Urology Investigations Unit
