Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Benign Urology Specialist Nurse to lead nurse-led clinics and provide autonomous specialist urology care within a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on patient-centred care and pathway redesign.

Qualifications

  • Qualified nurse with current NMC registration.

This role provides specialist urology care to patients with a variety of bladder dysfunction and bladder outlet obstruction from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. You will run nurse-led clinics such as One stop LUTS, TWOC, bladder treatments, recurrent UTI, Functional urology issues ,nephrostomy care and Intermittent self catheterisation teaching. The team also offer a 'rapid access' walk in service from the main hospital site for a variety of urological issues such as blocked /stuck indwelling catheters, acute retention and blocked nephrostomy.

You will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, and arrange diagnostic tests and investigations to support timely, effective care.

You will be actively involved in Audit and service development

You will coordinate care across services, making referrals to appropriate support networks and managing treatment-related side effects and ongoing patient needs, ensuring patients receive holistic, patient-centred care at every stage of their pathway.

You'll also use research, clinical evidence and emerging best practice to help inform treatment discussions and enhance patient care.

Our service is primarily based across:

  • Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford)
  • Ottery St Mary Community Hospital, home to our dedicated Urology Investigations Unit and Our Nurse led unit the Douglas James Centre

We use the EPIC electronic patient record system, enabling seamless communication across the multidisciplinary team and immediate access to patient records, investigations and results, helping us deliver safe, efficient and coordinated care.
