Are you an inspirational nurse leader ready to shape the future of urology services? This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced, innovative and motivated senior nurse to join the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as our Lead Urology Nurse. This newly developed strategic leadership role reflects our ambition to strengthen and transform urology services across the Trust. As the professional nursing lead for urology, you will provide visible, compassionate and inclusive leadership for the nursing workforce across both benign and urological cancer pathways, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. Working across the Royal Devon's acute sites at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (RDE), together with community settings where urology services are delivered, you will lead the continued development of integrated, equitable and sustainable urology pathways. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future direction of one of the Trust's key clinical services through innovation, collaboration and transformational leadership.

The Lead Urology Nurse will provide strategic, professional and operational leadership for the urology nursing workforce across the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Working in partnership with senior clinical and operational colleagues, the post holder will drive the development of integrated urology services, ensuring safe, effective and high-quality care for patients receiving treatment for both benign and malignant urological conditions. The role will work closely with the Care Group leadership team, Consultant Urologists, Advanced Practitioners, the Lead Cancer Nurse and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop and implement the Trust's strategic vision for urology services.

• Providing professional leadership for the nursing workforce across benign and urological cancer services.
• Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of patient-centred urology pathways across acute and community settings.
• Supporting the delivery of national urology and cancer standards, constitutional targets and quality indicators.
• Working collaboratively with clinical, operational and executive colleagues to shape future models of care and improve access, patient experience and clinical outcomes.
• Leading workforce planning, succession planning and the development of advanced and specialist nursing roles to ensure a sustainable future workforce.
• Driving service transformation, innovation and quality improvement programmes across the speciality.
• Promoting research, education, audit and evidence-based practice to continually improve standards of care.
• Providing expert professional advice on urology nursing practice, governance, patient safety and clinical quality.
• Developing strong collaborative relationships across organisational boundaries to support integrated care and seamless patient pathways.

About the role

This is a Trust-wide leadership position with responsibility for urology nursing services delivered across North Devon District Hospital (NDDH), the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (RDE) and community-based services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across organisational and professional boundaries, balancing strategic leadership with a visible clinical presence to support staff, patients and service development. You will be expected to build strong relationships with Care Group leadership, clinical teams, corporate services and external partners, ensuring that nursing is central to the ongoing development of high-quality, sustainable urology services across the Royal Devon.
