Job description

We are looking to appoint two outstanding Consultant Urological Surgeons to join our dynamic, expanding, and forward-thinking Urology team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a department that is ambitious, collaborative, and firmly focused on clinical excellence and innovation.

As we continue to grow, these new posts are pivotal in delivering our strategic vision to enhance both our clinical and academic profile. You will join a well-established and highly motivated consultant workforce within a high-volume, fast-paced District General Hospital environment, where team spirit and patient-centred care are at the heart of everything we do.

Whether you're looking to consolidate your expertise or develop a subspecialty interest, we offer the support, resources, and flexibility to shape your role around your professional ambitions.

Main duties of the job
  • Participate in the urology on-call rota, currently operating at a 1:8 frequency, with prospective cover for both planned and unplanned absences.
  • During on-call weeks, be freed from elective commitments to focus on emergency urological care, supported by a 24-hour middle-grade rota and SHO-level support.
  • Participate in outpatient clinics at multiple sites including Wexham Park Hospital, King Edward VII Hospital, Heatherwood Hospital, and St Mark’s Hospital.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education, working toward qualifications as a clinical and educational supervisor.
Working for our organisation

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to inclusivity and has received the Gold award for the Armed Forces Employment Recognition Scheme. We offer professional development opportunities and support a healthy work-life balance, encouraging flexible working arrangements.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Join a department with a clear vision to enhance its clinical and academic profile, supporting strategic growth.
  • Opportunities for subspecialty development in areas such as stone and BPH services, haematuria and bladder cancer pathways, and andrology and paediatric urology.
  • Roles are primarily based at Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital, with activity across multiple sites.
  • Focus on delivering high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic care in both acute and elective settings, with encouragement for subspecialty development.
  • Participate in the urology on-call rota, currently at 1:8, supported by dedicated emergency care units and staffing.
