Job overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers and the largest trust in the NHS. It was created on 1 April 2012 by bringing together three trusts: Barts and The London NHS Trust, Newham University Hospital NHS Trust, and Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust.

The new trust has a turnover of approximately £1.3 billion and approximately 15,000 employees.

Our hospitals—Newham University Hospital in Plaistow, St Bartholomew’s (Barts) in the City, The Royal London in Whitechapel, The London Chest in Bethnal Green, and Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone—deliver high-quality clinical care to east London and beyond.

The hospitals offer a full portfolio of services, including some of Britain’s leading specialist centres such as cancer, cardiac, trauma, and emergency care. Barts Health also hosts one of the UK’s busiest children’s hospitals and renowned surgical facilities.

Our vision is to create a world-class health organisation that builds strong partnerships and community relations—focused on ending health inequalities in east London. We aim to be recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and education. As part of UCLPartners, the largest academic health sciences system globally, we are committed to continuous improvement and innovation.

Main duties of the job

We seek talented professionals to lead our ambitious healthcare organisation. Barts Health offers extensive professional development opportunities, including:

  • Gaining diverse experience across hospitals along the patient pathway;
  • Enhanced career progression opportunities to retain talented staff;
  • Recruitment of top-tier doctors and researchers to share knowledge and advance healthcare;
  • Positioning as a world leader to attract more staff and reduce vacancies;
  • Collaborating within an Academic Health Science System to develop new technologies and treatments.

Working for our organisation

Barts Health is among the largest NHS trusts and a leading healthcare provider in Britain. We are entering an exciting phase of improvement, striving for excellence and innovation, and committed to providing safe, high-quality patient care in east London and beyond.

We promote our WeCare values and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every staff member feels a sense of belonging and respect for diversity.
