Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive UTC Lead Emergency Care Practitioner to lead the EP and HCA teams within the UTC and drive service development.

You will provide clinical care for minor injuries and illnesses, interpret investigations, and work across MDT with ED ACPs, tACP, GP provider and nursing leadership. A band 7 leadership track record is essential.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse on relevant part of NMC register or Allied Health Professional with HCPC Registration.
  • Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent level of knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio.
  • Post graduate speciality specialist training – WECC Minors Emergency Practitioner Qualification, Urgent Care Qualification or equivalent in Minor Injuries and Illnesses.
  • Evidence Supporting Learners in Practice.
  • Current IRMER Certificate.
  • ILS and PILS.
  • Up to date knowledge of current guidelines relating to Urgent/Emergency Care.
  • Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.
  • Extensive clinical experience of working within chosen speciality.
  • Previous experience of working at band 7 level.
  • Post Registration experience and proven evidence of leadership or change management.
  • Broad awareness of wider Trust initiatives / pressures.
  • Evidence of ability to change or initiate practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide managerial and professional support on a day-to-day basis to EPs and HCAs in the department.
  • Develop the UTC service as well as the EP and HCA teams.
  • See and treat patients in the UTC with a variety of minor injuries and illnesses, including requesting and interpreting investigations.
  • Be a key decision maker alongside the MDT.
  • Work with ED ACPs, tACPs, Matron, Senior Nurses, ED Consultant Team and Divisional leadership.
