Urban Designer Job in Tower Hamlets, London
An award-winning AJ100 international place making practice of architects and master planners, established 30 years ago, is seeking an Urban Designer to join their team in their London studio.
This renowned practice, comprising just under 100 people, undertakes placemaking projects at every scale, from cities and towns to neighbourhoods, streets, and individual buildings.
The successful Urban Designer will be integrated into a blended team of Urban Designers and Architects, with support from graphics, visualisation, admin, and IT teams. Although the practice does not have in-house landscape or planning teams, it values collaboration and creative problem-solving, encouraging communication and team effort.
Role & Responsibilities
Producing layouts, parameter plans, and land budget plans
Writing reports for Design and Access Statements (DAS) and Design Codes
Managing projects with supervision, demonstrating the ability to hit the ground running
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including Architects, Urban Designers, and support staff.
Required Skills & Experience
2 years post-qualified experience within a design practice, specifically working on UK based projects
Experience working on Urban extensions and low-density residential projects would be highly beneficial.
Proficiency in producing layouts, parameter plans, and land budget plans is essential
Evidence of report writing for Design and Access Statements (DAS) and Design Codes (Design Code experience is beneficial but not essential)
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, CAD, and hand-drawing
Experience in residential-led, mixed-use projects and large-scale master plans
An architecture background is preferred but not mandatory.
