About the Role

The Urban Design Group at Foster + Partners is an interdisciplinary team involved in projects ranging from strategic planning to urban design and landscape architecture. We foster an active dialogue among various disciplines, including planning, landscape architecture, spatial design, and social anthropology, to create environments with a social focus that extend beyond the project brief.

Responsibilities

1. Understand the design/master plan project and conduct research into relevant urban design and planning issues.
2. Support project teams through the design process, from brief development to analysis and benchmarking of design options.
3. Communicate findings effectively and develop diagrammatic or spatial representations as needed.
4. Develop design concepts collaboratively with other specialists and design studio members.
5. Present work in 2D and 3D formats.
6. Assist with additional tasks as required.
7. Support and promote equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI) as a core priority, integrating it into all workstreams.
8. Ensure compliance with Foster + Partners procedures and standards.
9. Utilize tools such as GIS, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office suite.
10. Experience with large-scale masterplans and projects based in the Middle East is preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Ability to undertake the above responsibilities effectively.
2. Proficiency in various media for developing and documenting design projects.
3. Legal eligibility to work in the country where the position is based.
4. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
5. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
