University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry seeks an experienced Upper GI surgeon to lead and develop the service. The post focuses on benign and oncologic Upper GI procedures, including bariatric surgery, with proficiency in laparoscopic and robotic techniques.

The role requires independent upper GI endoscopy (JAG accredited), management of complex cases, and engagement with MDTs to deliver high-quality patient care across Coventry and surrounding regions.

Qualifications

• Higher training in general surgery with Upper GI focus.
• Ability to manage all general surgical emergencies.
• Capable of routine benign laparoscopic Upper GI surgery.
• Ability to perform Upper GI cancer and bariatric surgery.
• Independent Upper GI endoscopy (JAG accredited).
• Proficient in laparoscopic and robotic Upper GI surgery.

Responsabilités

• Provide surgical care and leadership within the Upper GI team.
• Contribute to MDT and patient care within GI services.
• Engage in CPD and annual appraisal to maintain revalidation readiness.
• Undertake administrative duties and support running of clinical areas.
• Lead and mentor team members with constructive feedback.
• Demonstrate financial awareness and cost-effective decisions.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure safety standards.
• Comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
