Job summary

Impact Recruitment are working with a specialist furniture manufacturer to recruit an experienced Upholsterer for their team in Wellingborough on a permanent basis. You will upholster sofas, chairs and bespoke pieces, taking ownership of varied projects within a small, friendly team.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 07:30–16:00, offering a competitive £28,000–£32,000 per year plus company benefits and training development.

Qualifications

• Experience upholstering furniture.
• Knowledge of fabrics, foams and fillings.
• Ability to follow job specifications and deliver high-quality finishes.
• Able to work independently and manage workload.
• Organised with good attention to detail.
• Reliable and able to work in a small team.
• Interest in developing skills and long-term career in upholstery.

Responsibilities

• Upholster new furniture manufactured in-house, including sofas, chairs and other bespoke furniture.
• Reupholster existing furniture, including stripping down items and repairing frames where necessary.
• Prepare frames and fit webbing, foam, fabrics and sewn covers.
• Ensure correct tension, pattern alignment and a neat, high-quality finish.
• Check completed work for quality, comfort and consistency, correcting any defects.
• Follow job specifications and customer requirements when completing upholstery work.
• Plan upcoming workloads and prepare materials and components ahead of production.
• Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, organised work area.
• Follow safe working procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship.
• Occasionally assist with deliveries, including loading, unloading and moving furniture at customer sites.
