Job summary

April Recruitment is partnering with a reputable client in Pontefract to appoint an Upholsterer on a permanent basis. You will work from the initial frame through to the finished product, using a range of upholstery and workshop equipment to produce high-quality furniture.

We offer up to £14.85 per hour (DOE), 7.00am–4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.00am–11.00am Friday. Holidays of 23 days plus Bank Holidays (31 total), plus a monthly bonus on meeting targets and an annual discretionary bonus up

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year upholstery experience.
• Knowledge of upholstery techniques (cutting, sewing, padding).
• Ability to use upholstery tools safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Upholster furniture from frame to finished product.
• Use staple guns, drills and hand tools to manufacture furniture.
• Interpret upholstery specifications, drawings and production instructions.
• Carry out repairs and re-upholstery as required.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with the production team to hit schedules.
• Keep a clean, safe, and organised work area.

Job description

We are working with a reputable client based in Pontefract who require a professional Upholsterer to join their team.

The position is a permanent role paying up to £14.85 per hour (DOE).

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 7.00am - 4.30pm + Friday 7.00am - 11.00am

Holidays - 23 Days + Bank Holidays (31 in total)

Monthly Bonus Scheme - paid when meeting individual production targets

Annual Discretionary Bonus - upto 10% of Annual Salary (twice per year)

Key Responsibilities:

• Upholster a wide range of furniture, working from the initial frame through to the completed, finished product.
• Use a variety of upholstery and workshop equipment, including staple guns, drills and hand tools, to manufacture high-quality furniture.
• Accurately interpret and follow upholstery specifications, technical drawings and production instructions.
• Carry out repairs, alterations and re-upholstery work on existing furniture as required.
• Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship while working efficiently to meet agreed deadlines.
• Work collaboratively with the wider production team to ensure production schedules and targets are achieved.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment, following all company Health & Safety procedures and taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others.

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in furniture upholstery, ideally with a minimum of 1 years relevant experience.
• Good knowledge of upholstery techniques, including cutting, sewing, padding, webbing, fitting and finishing.
• Confident and competent in the safe and correct use of upholstery tools, equipment and machinery.
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on achieving high-quality finishes and consistently high standards of workmanship.
• Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with complex, bespoke or challenging furniture pieces.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet production deadlines.
