Job summary

Outcomes First Group, through Acorn Education, is seeking an Unqualified Teacher to support SEMH learners in our offsite provision across the local community. You will help young people access meaningful learning, gain qualifications and develop confidence for adulthood.

This role involves planning and delivering learning activities, 1:1 support, transporting students by minibus, safeguarding, and working with families, teachers and external partners to track progress and support transitions.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• A full manual driving licence.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good ICT skills.
• The ability to build effective relationships with students.
• A commitment to safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and support learning activities within the community.
• Support students undertaking vocational, functional skills and employability qualifications.
• Help students develop workplace behaviours, independence and confidence.
• Support work experience, community placements and transition programmes.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
• Contribute to EHCP outcomes, behaviour support plans and individual learning targets.
• Work alongside teachers, therapists, families and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to student reviews and progress monitoring.
• Support safeguarding and health and safety at all times.
• Drive school minibuses and support student transport where required.
• Support successful transitions into school, college, employment and adult services.

Job description

We are seeking a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher to join our specialist SEMH provision. This role combines education, pastoral support and real-world preparation for adulthood. You will help young people access meaningful learning, gain relevant qualifications and develop the confidence, independence and employability skills required for success beyond school. A key aspect of the role is supporting students 1:1 primarily offsite, but within the local community, workplaces, colleges and training environments. You will help students engage in work-related learning, community projects, volunteering opportunities and accredited qualifications that prepare them for employment, further education and independent living.

You will be confident building positive relationships, working independently on a 1:1 basis, and helping students develop the skills and confidence they need for the future.

You will have:

Ideally, you will also have experience in education, youth work, mentoring, care, employability or community-based support, along with SEN experience and relevant teaching, childcare, vocational or HLTA qualifications.
