Job description

Are you an Engineering Supervisor looking for your next role and open to something slightly different? We're currently looking for ES's to support with the implementation of safety technology into the rail industry.

At Tended, we create first-of-a-kind safety systems that use some of the most advanced technologies on the market to transform rail worker safety. Our flagship geofencing solution has been named as one of TIME’s Best Inventions and has made it onto the Digital Leaders 100 list for Geospatial Initiative of the Year.

We’re a venture-backed scale-up with an incredible team and work alongside industry-leading organisations in the rail sector to innovate and bring rail workers home safe every day. Tended is growing quickly and we need Implementation Leads to support our technology deployments on client sites across the UK.

Tasks

As an Implementation Lead, you're the bridge between Tended and our clients, guiding their teams through seamless adoption of our technology on-site.

You'll lead key client deployments on the ground, working closely with Tended's project managers to deliver an excellent service. Success in this role depends on building strong, trusting relationships quickly - so first-class communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Our technology is used by track workers with a wide range of technical confidence. You'll develop a deep understanding of our products so you can coach users through their day-to-day challenges and get them operating independently. Being on-site also puts you in a unique position to see how our products are really used - uncovering new value-adding features and feeding improvements back to the team.

You'll need strong knowledge of the rail environment and the roles within it, and you'll either hold a Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification or meet the requirements to obtain one. Above all, we're looking for someone proactive and approachable - person fit matters to us.

Travel and working pattern

This is a field-based role centred on regular client site visits across UK sites, with remaining time worked remotely. Because we deploy to shift workers, this is primarily a nightshift role and includes weekend and bank holiday working - flexibility to meet the needs of the business and our clients is essential.

In return, we have excellent policies covering travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses, as well as fatigue management and time off in lieu.

A full driving licence is required.

Requirements

Even if you don’t feel you have all of the requirements listed below, we’d encourage you to apply, as we’re looking for someone who is willing to learn and grow with us.

Essential

  • You have experience as an ES, ESA, COSS, Site Agent, or in a comparable on-site leadership role within the railway or a related industry.
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to influence site teams and users, and turn them into capable users of our product. Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders is desirable.
  • You are comfortable with technology and enthusiastic to develop an in-depth understanding of our products to provide on-site coaching and support to users.
  • You take a meticulous approach and consistently follow established processes and procedures with accuracy.
  • You instinctively take initiative to find and fix problems, thinking out of the box to find ways to make things better.

Desirable

  • You might have practical, hands-on experience of on-the-ground delivery of new technologies, delivering to a range of different kinds of users with different levels of tech-savviness.
  • You might have experience with project management tools.
  • You might have some experience in project management disciplines such as planning, managing risks, dependencies, issues, timelines, budgets, scope, deliverables and quality.
  • You might have some commercial awareness, such as understanding how to demonstrate the value of our work to clients during delivery.
