Job summary

Deliveroo PLC is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Unified Privacy Platform team.

You will oversee backend and platform engineers responsible for privacy and consent infrastructure, including the Privacy Center, User Consent Platform, and DSAR workflows across multiple brands. You will balance legal requirements with user trust and developer velocity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in people management leading backend or platform teams.
• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Proven experience designing large-scale distributed systems, APIs, policy/rules engines, workflow orchestration, and data-lifecycle systems.
• Preferred experience with privacy, consent, data governance or regulatory systems (GDPR/CCPA/CPRA).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of backend and platform engineers, fostering ownership and privacy by design.
• Drive technical strategy across the Privacy Center, Unified Privacy Platform and related operations.
• Build cross-brand User Consent Platform and ensure policy/configuration management aligns with laws and privacy rights.
• Deliver self-service experiences for consent, data rights, and DSARs across products and jurisdictions.
• Translate evolving privacy/regulatory requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
• Lead migration to a single source of truth across brands while ensuring compatibility and safe deprecation.
• Define contracts with data-governance and downstream storage teams for traceability and auditable privacy actions.
• Provide architectural guidance for distributed systems handling sensitive user choices and data delivery.
• Partner with recruiting to build a diverse, inclusive team and attract engineering talent.
