Job summary

Deliveroo Plc is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Unified Privacy Platform team. You’ll mentor backend and platform engineers and shape the next generation of privacy and consent infrastructure.

You’ll own a multi-year privacy vision across DoorDash, Wolt and Deliveroo, balancing legal, security and user trust while delivering scalable, self‑service capabilities across brands. Hybrid London role with three days in the office; collaborate with Product, Legal, Security, Data Governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of people management leading backend or platform teams.
• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems, APIs, policy engines, orchestration, data-lifecycle or audit architectures.
• Preferred privacy/regulatory experience (GDPR/CCPA/CPRA).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of backend and platform engineers, fostering ownership and privacy-by-design.
• Drive the technical strategy across the Privacy Center, Unified Privacy Platform and Privacy Operations.
• Build cross-brand User Consent Platform with canonical consent state, policy/configuration management, consent SDKs, audit history, and enforcement.
• Deliver self-service experiences for consent, RTBF/RTI and DSARs.
• Transform emerging privacy requirements into standardized platform capabilities; migrate to a single source of truth across brands.
• Define contracts with data-governance systems and downstream teams for traceable privacy actions.
• Provide architectural guidance for distributed systems handling sensitive user choices, data delivery, and audit trails.
• Partner with recruiting to build a diverse, inclusive team.
