Are you organised, proactive and keen to develop your career in a professional environment? This could be the perfect opportunity to get started in the insurance industry!

We're working with a prestigious global insurer looking for an enthusiastic Underwriting Support Assistant to join its successful and growing Care Renewals Team.

You'll support a portfolio of specialist care, charity, social welfare and not-for-profit clients across the UK, working alongside experienced Underwriters and gaining valuable exposure to commercial insurance.

Whether you're a recent graduate, have customer service or administration experience, or are looking for a new challenge, this role offers the opportunity to learn new skills, build your industry knowledge and work towards a long-term career in underwriting.

Why Join the Care Renewals Team?

You'll be joining an established and successful team of around 15 colleagues responsible for managing a substantial portfolio of specialist clients.

The team continues to grow year-on-year and offers a supportive environment where colleagues work collaboratively, share knowledge and encourage each other's development.

With direct exposure to experienced Underwriters and a range of specialist insurance products, you'll have an excellent opportunity to build your knowledge and develop your career.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same in this varied and fast-paced role. You'll play an important part in helping Underwriters manage their portfolios efficiently and deliver excellent service to brokers and clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day administrative support to Underwriters and Senior Underwriters.

  • Running workflow reports and allocating tasks across the team.

  • Preparing renewal files and gathering key risk information.

  • Coordinating property and risk surveys.

  • Reviewing and tracking survey requirements.

  • Researching and collating information, including Care Quality Commission (CQC) reports and supporting documentation.

  • Managing incoming calls, messages and broker enquiries.

  • Following up with brokers to obtain outstanding information.

  • Updating internal systems and maintaining accurate records.

  • Supporting ad hoc projects and wider team initiatives.

What We're Looking For

You don't need previous insurance experience to apply. We're more interested in your attitude, organisational skills and willingness to learn.

We're particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Are highly organised and have excellent attention to detail.

  • Enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced environment.

  • Are confident communicating with a range of people.

  • Can manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively.

  • Take ownership of their work and use their initiative.

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Are comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.

  • Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Have previous customer service, administration or office-based experience.

Previous insurance experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

What You'll Get in Return
  • A competitive starting salary.

  • A 5% bonus payable at the end of the fixed-term contract.

  • Hybrid working arrangements.

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support.

  • Exposure to specialist insurance markets.

  • Genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression.

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.

  • The opportunity to build a long-term career in insurance.

We welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. If you're looking for a role where you can develop your skills and build a future in insurance, we'd love to hear from you.

We are committed to creating an inclusive working environment where people from diverse backgrounds can thrive. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates and are happy to consider individuals seeking flexible working arrangements.
