Talbot Underwriting Services Ltd in London is seeking an experienced Underwriting Operations Support Manager on a 12-month FTC to lead a team of Technical Assistants and Sr. Technical Assistants.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, drive end-to-end underwriting processes, and partner with underwriters and CoE teams to deliver timely, compliant results. You will escalate issues, monitor quality and productivity, mentor staff, and support IT-driven change initiatives while maintaining strong

The staff roles managed may include any combination of Technical Assistant or Sr. Technical Assistant. This includes human resource management including mentoring, counselling, goal setting, and staff development. Promotes teamwork and collaboration in partnership with underwriting and other functional teams within the company.People ManagementManages a team of Technical AssistantsActively manages the team in all aspects, such as hiring, performance management, development, and schedule coordination.Manages the day-to-day operations of the support unit.First point of escalation for operations staff regarding service issues.Identify servicing issues and works with the Operations Manager to document the issue and follow up through resolution.Operations SupportDevelops key relationships with underwriters and CoE partners to execute the end-to-end Operations processes.Tracks and translates quality, timeliness, productivity, and service delivery requirements into individual, team, and unit metrics.Review and manage production and quality control reports and take appropriate action for improved results.Ensures compliance with workflows and procedures.Review workflows/processes in order to identify process efficiencies. Document workflow/process changes, train onshore/offshore staff, and implement and monitor change through BAU status.Support any IT development efforts as a subject matter expert. Act as the point of coordination and functional subject matter expert for solutions provided and supported by Talbot IT and external software/solution providersMaintains open and effective communication with underwriters in order to foster partnership and teamwork.Proactively maintains effectiveness when experiencing changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusts effectively to work within the new structure, process requirements, or culture.What you’ll need to succeedCommercial Insurance experience.Direct team management experience.
