This position is within Specialty Underwriting Services which is part of our Operations team. The team work closely with our Underwriters based in Hannover and support across multiple lines of business including; Property, Energy and Liability. This role would suit an individual that has worked within the Insurance industry, with experience or an interest in an Operational role.
The role
- To manage the policy lifecycle, ensuring clean data is entered into and out of HGS underwriting and financial systems and a high service level is provided to the wider business and the Hannover Re Underwriters
- Ensuring the business is written in accordance with the HGS underwriting guideline and business plan.
- Service our Hannover Reinsurance Underwriters / HDI Underwriters and our brokers.
- Supporting general team requirements.
Key accountabilities
1. Underwriting Administration
- Manage the team mailbox by processing quotes/ endorsements and slips
- Transferral of underwriting information and correspondence into document management system (Doxis)
- Data entry using our underwriting data entry system - ENora on behalf of the team
- Ensuring a timely, efficient and appropriate workflow process is followed to from start to finish
2. Data Quality
- Monitor and review the Policy data input to eNora, ensure compliance with data quality protocols, via the Approval Gate.
- Responsible for individual error rate and ensuring that this is in line with company standards & expectations
3. Managing Relationships
- Support the underwriting services team by delivering a high quality service to the business, underwriters and the broker
- Develop and build a strong, long-term relationship with our underwriters along with their brokers by providing them with an excellent underwriting service
4. Risk and Controls
- Ensure all risks comply with regulatory and compliance checks, which in turn are all performed within the underwriting guideline adhering to all Local and Group guidelines
- Implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output of your area within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible
5. Process Improvement
- Make suggestions for process improvements within your role
- Enhance and improve the effectiveness of the service and systems used in the underwriting services team and if needed participate in special underwriting projects if required.
6. Credit Control
- Accounting Queries – Reconcile and investigate accounting queries when needed
7. Reporting
- MI Reporting – Understand and assist with team KPI reporting when required
- Run and check reports as required
8. Analysis of data and/or preparing reports for own & underwriters purpose
9. Support all other functional activities as required, including project-related work
10. Adhere to all Local and Group guidelines
Skills & experience
- Experience working within insurance - operations, underwriting support, claims or administrative roles will be considered.
- Knowledge of London Market; key practices and principles within the underwriting sector are desirable but not essential
- Intermediate MS Office skills – Outlook, Excel
- Working towards CII qualifications or similar industry recognised qualifications is desirable but not essential
