Job summary

Malabar Resources Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Coordinator to join the Whynot Bord and Pillar Team. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the role requires leading mechanical maintenance of Bord and Pillar mining equipment and coordinating a skilled trade workforce.

Successful candidate will plan and schedule maintenance across continuous miners, shuttle cars, roof bolters and diesel equipment, while ensuring compliance and safety.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification and underground mining experience.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance leadership or coordination in underground coal mining.
• Knowledge of underground mining equipment and safety regulations.
• Experience managing contractors and improvement initiatives.
• Strong IT skills and ability to work with maintenance systems.
• Good communication and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical trade workforce to maintain safe, reliable equipment.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate planned, breakdown and shutdown maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with Mechanical Engineering Control Plan and Mines regulations.
• Improve equipment availability via root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Manage spares, rebuilds, budgets and contractors.
• Collaborate with Production, Electrical, Engineering and Supply teams.
• Maintain work orders and maintenance records.
• Promote site safety and a high-performing culture.
• Support lean team operations.
