Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 8A lead sonographer for its ultrasound department, covering Hillingdon and Mount Vernon sites. The role combines clinical scanning with management, service development and leadership, and includes teaching students and staff.

You will lead day-to-day operations, ensure diagnostic targets are met, and oversee staffing, equipment and governance. Registration with HCPC/NMC/RCT and a postgraduate ultrasonography qualification are

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in ultrasonography.
• Registration with HCPC, NMC or RCT.
• Significant post-qualification experience at Band 7 or higher.
• Experience leading and managing a team within ultrasound.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the ultrasound service across sites.
• Scan patients and produce independent reports for non-obstetric and general studies.
• Provide professional leadership and training for staff and students.
• Develop and oversee service delivery, staffing and equipment.
• Collaborate with obstetric ultrasound cross-cover as needed.
• Support clinical audit and governance activities.
