Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Ultrasound Modality Lead Sonographer (Band 8A) to be based across Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital sites.

The role combines high-level clinical ultrasound practice with strategic leadership, teaching, and governance, with half of the time allocated to service development and half to maintaining high-quality imaging for both obstetric and non-obstetric areas.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across non-obstetric, general and specialist ultrasonography.
• Proven track record of teaching and mentoring students and staff.
• Balanced role of clinical ultrasound and management/leadership responsibilities.
• Cross-cover for obstetric ultrasound services when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the ultrasound unit and day-to-day running.
• Provide independent reports for non-obstetric, general and specialist ultrasound studies.
• Act as practice educator for trainees and registrars.
• Lead clinical audit and clinical governance programmes.
• Manage staff rota, staffing and equipment resources across modalities.
• Provide ultrasound service across all sites.
