Job summary

Tulloch Recruitment Ltd is seeking a UK Statutory Reporting Accountant for a 12-month contract based near Portlethen, Aberdeen. The role involves preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and overseeing audit packs for multiple UK entities with international presence.

The ideal candidate will have ICAS/ACCA/CIMA qualification, audit experience, and advanced Excel skills, with a proven ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines in a hybrid work setting (2 days WFH, 3 in office).

Job description

We are currently looking for a UK Statutory Reporting Accountant to join our clients team on a 12 month contract basis. Based in Portlethen Aberdeen, 2 days WFH, 3 days in office

As the UK Statutory Reporting Accountant you will be part of a busy Finance Team, working closely with external auditors and playing a key role in the delivery of an effective and efficient external audit. You will be responsible for the preparation and review of the statutory accounts and delivery of all aspects of financial accounting for a number of large UK entities, with presence in numerous countries. You must have excellent understanding and knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102), outstanding attention to detail and have a propensity to achieve uniform standards of presentation and communication. You must demonstrate ability to work autonomously and meet critical deadlines whilst managing a busy workload and ensuring excellent relationships with key stakeholders across the group.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the audit function for the consolidation of together with a number of other UK companies, which includes:
• Preparation and approval of audit packs prior to audit
• Preparation of statutory accounts and necessary disclosures in line with requirements of FRS 102
• Identification and calculation of statutory adjustments on conversion from US to UK GAAP
• Communicating with ledger controllers on audit requirements and provision of guidance on technical accounting issues
• Ensure that the key issues are identified in a timely manner and adequate time is allowed for the escalation and resolution of issues
• Communicating with external auditors
• Assist in drafting key management papers for the audit and ad-hoc technical accounting projects, such as analysis of complex or judgemental transactions and adoption of new standards
• Maintain an awareness of developments in the field of Statutory Accounting & Reporting to ensure compliance and quality
• Complete business survey questionnaires issued by Office of National Statistics
• Constantly review systems and procedures for statutory reporting ensuring the highest standards of work are maintained
• Potential to work on other European Statutory audits were appropriate
• Assist with Ad-hoc Transfer Pricing Activities and other analysis
• Prepare any ad-hoc reporting as required by the Europe Finance Management

Desired Qualities/Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified Accountant (ICAS/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent
• Experience of audit
• Experience within a statutory reporting role
• Technical ability to prepare, review and ensure accuracy and completeness of all work delivered by the Department and Company
• Experience of interpreting and applying accounting and regulatory guidance
• Strong track record in improving financial reporting processes, including effective use of technology
• Previous experience of accounting and financial reporting within an oil & gas service company
• Profound knowledge of UK and US GAAP
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills
• Advanced ability in Excel and Word
• Ability to take ownership of and accountability over workload management and meeting deadlines
• Enthusiastic with a willingness to resolve issues and ensure technical accuracy
• Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with colleagues and auditors at all levels

Desirable

• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley Act
• Good technical knowledge of IFRS
• Caseware or statutory accounts production software experience
• Working knowledge of Enterprise Performance Management and its functionality
