Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd is working with a large international manufacturing business to recruit a Payroll Manager. Based in Wantage, the role is office-based, five days a week, permanent with temp-to-perm considered.You will lead a small in-house payroll team, own UK payroll for around 1,100 employees, and partner with HR, Finance, IT and site leadership to ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery and strong governance.

Qualifications

• Strong UK payroll experience in a medium-to-large or shared services environment.
• Knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, controls and reconciliations.
• Experience managing, supervising or leading a payroll team.
• Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with SAP, Workday, Cintra, ServiceNow or multi-site/manufacturing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a small in-house payroll team.
• Oversee accurate, timely and compliant UK payroll delivery.
• Manage payroll accounting, reconciliations, reporting, audit and controls.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT and site leadership as the UK payroll specialist.
• Support systems, automation, process improvement and governance initiatives.
