JINGDONG Logistics in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Customs Manager to oversee cross-border import clearance, liaise with brokers and service providers, and ensure compliant, timely shipments. You will coordinate with retail teams and internal stakeholders while building a small team to handle growing volumes.

The role requires deep knowledge of UK customs controls, tariff classifications, and trade documentation, with strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of UK import customs clearance procedures and trade documentation.
• Knowledge of tariff classification, declaration logic, duties and taxes, and exception handling.
• Experience in managing customs brokers, clearance agents, freight forwarders, and carriers.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of customs clearance operations for cross-border shipments entering the UK, including port clearance coordination.
• Oversee import declaration activities, document review, duty and tax coordination, customs inspections, and exception handling to minimise delays.
• Manage day-to-day communications with service providers and monitor performance and escalation mechanisms.
• Coordinate with internal retail teams and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and timely execution.
• Review commodity classification, declaration data, and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Lead and develop a small customs team (1–2 people) as the business grows.
