Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineering Manager to lead our UK commissioning organisation and guide a team delivering HVDC, High Voltage, Substation, and Grid Integration projects. You will shape capability, coach engineers, and align staffing with project needs while driving safety and excellence.

The role emphasizes people leadership, development planning, and collaborating with project leaders to ensure delivery and growth across a matrix organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Extensive commissioning, energisation, construction or project delivery experience.
• Proven leadership of technical engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of HVDC, transmission or grid integration projects.
• Experience in resource planning, workforce management and development.
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop engineers.
• Excellent stakeholder management across multi-function teams.
• Experience in complex, matrix project environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the UK-based Commissioning Engineering team.
• Act as line manager, conduct performance reviews and career planning.
• Create development plans and support succession planning.
• Foster mentoring, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Promote wellbeing, inclusion and employee engagement.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and integration of new staff.
• Ensure availability of competent commissioning resources for projects and tenders.
• Forecast resource needs with project leadership and support growth.
