Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK LIMITED is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineering Manager to lead and develop our UK-based Commissioning Engineering organisation, supporting major HVDC and Grid Integration projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in commissioning, energisation, construction, project delivery, or operations.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing technical engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of HVDC, High Voltage, Substation, Transmission & Distribution, or Grid Integration projects.
• Experience in resource planning, workforce management, and organisational development.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineering professionals.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple functions and levels.
• Experience working in complex project environments and matrix organisations.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• A passion for people leadership and building high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the UK-based Commissioning Engineering team.
• Act as the functional line manager for Commissioning Engineers, conducting performance reviews, development discussions, and career planning.
• Create and maintain individual development plans and support succession planning across the organisation.
• Foster a culture of mentoring, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
• Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and retention.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new employees.
• Ensure the availability of competent commissioning resources to meet project delivery and tendering requirements.
• Collaborate with Project Commissioning Managers and project leadership teams to forecast resource needs and support business growth.
• Identify capability gaps and support the ongoing development of commissioning competencies across the organisation.
• Champion a strong safety culture and high standards of commissioning excellence.
