Job summary

PayByPhone is seeking a UK Financial Controller to lead the UK finance function, manage accounting operations, and ensure compliance with UK standards. You will partner with commercial leadership, support FP&A, and drive close processes with a focus on controls and accuracy.

The role reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Controller and leads the UK Finance Team in Hatfield on a hybrid basis. Competitive salary and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with 7+ years leading a full-cycle accounting function.
• Public practice experience preferred.
• Experience with UK GAAP, VAT and HMRC filing requirements.
• Experience with NetSuite or another ERP.

Responsibilities

• Lead UK Finance Team, provide coaching and performance reviews.
• Own UK accounts production, monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
• Oversee year-end statutory accounts, tax return, VAT/HMRC filings, and audits.
• Own company secretarial duties for PayByPhone UK entities.
• Act as finance partner to UK commercial leadership on contracts, pricing and VAT.
• Support UK budgeting and forecasting with granular insights.
• Oversee treasury, cash management and vendor payments.
• Drive process improvement and global support for the finance function.
