Job summary

Blue Zoo Animation Studio in the UK is seeking a Blender Lighting and Compositing Artist to shape mood and atmosphere for our characters, props and environments. You will balance high quality with deadlines while staying in the UK.

As a Lighting Artist, you’ll work with the Creative Lead to craft lighting setups, refine renders in Cycles or Eevee, and ensure efficient render times across shots. The role emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience lighting in Blender to match a creative brief.
• Collaborate with the Creative Lead to design lighting setups.
• Tweak light rigs, render setups and compositing templates to achieve the look.
• Update render settings to optimize efficiency in Cycles or Eevee.
• Meet shot deadlines with proactive time management and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Use lighting setups in Blender to match a specific creative brief or vision, including adjusting light types, intensities and colour.
• Work closely with your Creative Lead in creating lighting setups if required.
• Tweak provided light rigs, render set-ups and compositing templates to achieve the required look of your shot.
• Update render settings to optimise the efficiency of renders within Cycles or Eevee engines.
• Monitor your renders to ensure they are within a given render time budget.
• Collaborate across departments to address production challenges, clearly communicating with teammates both within and outside of L&C to move projects forward.
• Problem solving to fix errors and glitches and addressing notes efficiently
• Manage your time effectively to meet shot deadlines, proactively flagging any potential delays with your Creative Lead and Production as early as possible
• Take direction constructively and implement feedback from your Creative Lead or Director with a positive, solution-focused mindset
