Job summary

Blue Zoo Production is seeking a skilled Blender Lighting & Compositing Artist in the UK. You will create lighting, finesse colours in compositing, and balance highest quality with deadlines. Must be based in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

Day-to-day includes using Blender lighting for briefs, tweaking rigs and templates, monitoring renders, and collaborating across departments to move projects forward. Strong problem-solving and time-management are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong Blender lighting, rendering and compositing knowledge.
• Experience as Blender L&C artist on animation production.
• Understanding of lighting principles and how to meet creative briefs.
• Technical understanding of lighting in 3D rendering, including PBR, ray tracing and GI.
• Knowledge of biased rendering to optimise sampling and reduce noise.
• Understanding of colour theory and composition.
• Great problem solving and collaboration skills.
• Strong time management and ability to take feedback and act on it.
• Willingness to share knowledge with teammates.

Responsibilities

• Use Blender lighting to match a creative brief, adjusting light types, intensities, and colour.
• Tweak light rigs, render setups and compositing templates to achieve the desired look.
• Monitor renders to stay within render time budgets.
• Collaborate with departments to address production challenges and progress projects.
• Troubleshoot errors and respond to notes promptly.
• Manage time to meet shot deadlines and flag delays early.
• Implement direction from Creative Lead or Director with a constructive mindset.
