Job summary

CVS Vets in Bristol is seeking a Twilight Veterinary Patient Care Assistant to join our team. The role supports nurses and vets, provides nursing care, handles animal restraint, and helps with emergencies.

We offer 28 hours per week, permanent contract, pay at the National Minimum Wage, and staff benefits including discounts and wellbeing support. Start date ASAP.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in animal welfare including feeding, cleaning and handling.
• Strong customer service and public interaction skills.
• Excellent communication and empathy when dealing with clients and patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients.
• Assist Vets and Nurses with animal restraint.
• Walk, feed and clean patients.
• Prepare emergency and operating facilities.
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance.
• Run internal lab samples.
• Answer emergency calls.
• Support reception including booking appointments and processing payments.

28 hours per week

Shift Pattern

Monday - Sunday, working 18.00 - 03.00, working 5 shifts on, 5 shifts off

Salary

Will be paid at the NMW

Must Haves

Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Providing nursing care to our patients
• Assisting Vets and Nurses with animal restraint
• Walking, feeding, and cleaning patients
• Preparing emergency and operating facilities
• Performing general cleaning and maintenance
• Running internal lab samples
• Answering emergency calls
• Supporting the reception team when needed, including booking appointments and processing payments

Who We're Looking For

• Skilled in customer service and public interaction
• Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling – this is essential!
• Resilient and capable of handling emotional situations
• Positive and a team player
• Preferably have experience in a veterinary environment
