Job Title: Tutor Manager (Funded Programmes)

Salary: £35,200 - £45,700

Are you an experienced tutor manager who can build, lead and develop a high-performing international tutor community to support large-scale online learning programmes?

We are looking for a Tutor Manager (Funded Programmes) to join Cambridge Online Education and play a central role in delivering high-quality, scalable learner support for major funded learning partnerships. About the role

In this role, you will build, manage and quality assure a tutor pool of approximately 30 lead tutors and tutors from Cambridge, Africa and other international partner institutions. You will be responsible for tutor recruitment, selection, onboarding, deployment, performance management, development and retention, ensuring tutors are prepared and supported to deliver excellent online learning experiences across funded programmes. You will also lead tutor onboarding, training and development; manage tutor performance and day-to-day support; oversee quality assurance and continuous improvement; coordinate tutor readiness for programme delivery; and provide regular reporting and insight on tutor recruitment, deployment, feedback, risks and development needs.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:

• Work with academic course leads, learning designers and partner organisations to identify tutor requirements and deployment needs for each course run.
• Conduct or coordinate interviews, selection activities and suitability checks as required.
• Ensure tutor contracting, compliance and record keeping are completed accurately and on schedule, working with programme operations, legal and finance colleagues as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate tutor records, including availability, deployment history, training completion, performance notes, remuneration information and contractual documentation.
• Develop and maintain tutor training resources, tutor handbooks, guidance, FAQs and briefing materials in partnership with Learning Design, Digital Learning Development and Operations colleagues.
• Build and sustain a tutor community of practice that supports knowledge sharing, capacity building, reflection and continuous professional development.
• Monitor tutor activity, learner feedback, engagement data and course team observations to identify strengths, risks and areas for improvement.
• Escalate significant tutor performance, safeguarding, learner experience, academic quality or partner confidence risks to the Head of Strategic Learning Partnerships in a timely manner.
• Contribute to lessons learned activity after each course run and ensure tutor-related improvements are captured, prioritised and implemented for future cohorts.

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. About You

You will have strong experience of recruiting, onboarding, coordinating or managing tutors, facilitators, educators or associate teaching staff for online learning. You will bring substantial people management experience, strong knowledge of online learning and adult learning, and a clear understanding of quality assurance, feedback review and continuous improvement in teaching or learner support contexts.

You will be highly organised, confident working across internal teams, academics, external partners and geographically distributed contributors, and able to use data, feedback and evidence to identify issues and improve delivery quality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to produce clear tutor guidance, briefing materials and reports.
