Job summary

An educational tutoring firm is seeking a dedicated tutor to assist a Year 9 student with special educational needs. Responsibilities include providing tailored English and Maths tuition, managing anxiety, and supporting the student's return to education. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and skilled in supporting dysregulated learners, ensuring a positive and structured learning environment. This role requires 4 hours per week commitment, with an initial 12 sessions planned.

We are looking for a committed tutor who can provide English and Maths tuition for one Year 9 student with SEN needs who has been out of education since July 2025.

About the Student
  • Year 9 student with an EHCP.
  • Has been out of education since July 2025 and requires support to be re‑engaged with learning.
  • Experiences anxiety about returning to a classroom setting and struggles with engagement.
  • Academically able but has missed significant learning over the past two academic years, resulting in likely gaps.
  • Requires a tutor skilled in supporting dysregulated learners who find education challenging.
Requirements
  • Experience teaching English and Maths at secondary level.
  • Background in supporting students with SEN and emotional regulation needs.
  • Ability to deliver structured, patient, and flexible lessons that encourage confidence and participation.
  • Committed to building a positive relationship and adapting teaching methods to suit individual needs.
  • Skilled in identifying and addressing learning gaps.
Details

Schedule: 4 hours per week, across flexibile days.

Initial Commitment: 12 sessions total to start.
