Job summary

Assystem is a leading nuclear engineering group delivering complex infrastructure across the lifecycle. The Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit seeks a Mechanical Engineer to drive Turbine Island design development with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

You will apply engineering principles, prepare design documents, and support optioneering studies while ensuring safety and quality throughout the program. Hybrid work arrangements are available in the UK.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software: Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
• Strong mathematical skills: MathCAD.
• Skilled in producing technical reports: design and substantiation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: welding, machining.
• Experience with the engineering design cycle from concept to manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements.
• Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers.
• Assist in design development activities and optioneering studies.
• Apply Systems Engineering principles.
• Integrate Turbine Island design into wider power plant infrastructure.
• Engage with stakeholders and attend design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management.
