Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit. You will report to the Turbine Island Senior Mechanical Engineer and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and the supply chain to advance Turbine Island design within a nuclear power project.

Responsibilities include ensuring supplier deliverables meet requirements, developing design documents, and conducting optioneering studies while applying Systems Engineering and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other regulated sectors.
• Strong background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software (Inventor/AutoCAD/Catia).
• Strong mathematical skills using MathCAD.
• Experience producing design and substantiation reports and assembly procedures.

Job Description

Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! Reporting to the Turbine Island Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for various Turbine Island design development activities. The Mechanical Engineer shall work closely with multi-disciplined teams and the supply chain to help deliver the Turbine Island design.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant senior engineering experience in sectors like offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software: Skilled in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
• Strong mathematical skills: Experienced with MathCAD software.
• Skilled in producing technical reports: Expertise in creating design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of welding, machining, etc.
• Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.

Additional Information:

• Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Experience with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
• Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: Manual calculations, reports, etc.
• Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: In-depth knowledge of ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
• Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: Familiar with DNV and Eurocodes.
