Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit in the UK. You will report to the Turbine Island Senior Mechanical Engineer and manage design development activities for Turbine Island integration within a power plant.

Responsibilities include developing design documents, supporting optioneering, applying systems engineering, and coordinating with stakeholders while upholding safety and quality standards. Hybrid remote options are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
• Strong mathematical skills: MathCAD software.
• Skilled in producing technical reports: design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: welding, machining, etc.
• Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.
• Familiar with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
• Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: manual calculations, reports.
• Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: ANSYS Workbench.
• Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: DNV and Eurocodes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers.
• Assist in design development activities and optioneering studies.
• Apply Systems Engineering principles.
• Integrate Turbine Island design into wider power plant infrastructure.
• Engage with stakeholders and attend design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management.
