Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead delivery of tunnelling design projects across UK/IE. You will oversee technical delivery, manage teams, and ensure design quality, safety and compliance. The role requires extensive experience in tunnel and cavern design, and a track record with D&B contracts.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction detailed design of tunnels and underground space.
• Experience with soil and hard rock tunnelling design on land and under the sea.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D modelling of underground space.
• Ability to prepare/check engineering designs and reports.
• Understanding of CDM regulations and health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Production and approval of design concepts, drawings and specifications.
• Establish internal design standards for quality and efficiency.
• Work within project teams to achieve objectives.
• Supervise others, sign off design certificates on behalf of the company.
• Prepare and check feasibility studies and technical reports.
• Develop innovative design solutions to meet project requirements.
• Prepare/check technical documents and assist in tenders.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
