Job Summary

Whipps Cross University Hospital – Trust Doctor (ST1-2 equivalent) in General Medicine. Fixed Term 12 months.

There’s never been a better time to join Whipps Cross University Hospital. This is a large, friendly District General Hospital on the edge of Epping Forest in Leytonstone. We are a centre for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching with support for research or further medical qualifications. Trainees are supported by a well-organised Medical Education Centre and candidates for Clinical Fellow posts will receive the same study leave time allowance and teaching opportunities as those in formal training posts.

Main duties of the job

The Department of General Medicine at Whipps Cross Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services to the local population of Waltham Forest, Western Redbridge and the neighbouring part of South West Essex. The inpatient service comprises two general medicine wards, Birch & Blackthorn, each with 2 ST1-2 level junior doctors and an ST3+ higher trainee daily, in line with the RCP Safe Medical Staffing Guidelines. The successful applicant will be able to develop individualised educational goals with a focus within their chosen specialty. The post provides excellent opportunities to develop clinical skills with a high level of consultant supervision, and scope to gain audit, research, or teaching experience.
