Job summary

Linde Material Handling in the UK is seeking a Paint Shop Technician to handle final stage truck preparation, including pre-paint prep, priming and applying finish coats for trucks completed in the workshop.

The role focuses on maintaining safety, stock levels, PPE, and a clean, efficient paint bay while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and daily equipment checks.

Qualifications

• Health and safety compliance is expected and embraced in daily work.
• Maintain high standards for preparation and finish of trucks in the paint process.
• Keep stock of paint, solvents and preparation materials and reorder to ensure workflow.
• Manage PPE and ensure proper storage of equipment.
• Maintain a clean paint bay and safe working environment.
• Perform daily checks on compressor oil levels and regulators.
• Maintain and change extract filters as scheduled.
• Carry out startup and shutdown checks daily.
• Report air leaks as they occur.
• Plan work to reduce non-productive time.

Responsibilities

• Comply with health and safety requirements in the paint shop.
• Ensure trucks entering paint reach required finish standards.
• Monitor and reorder paint, solvents and prep materials.
• Care for PPE equipment and storage facilities.
• Keep paint bay clean and orderly at all times.
• Check compressor oil and regulate pressure daily.
• Replace extract filters according to schedule.
• Run daily startup/shutdown checks before/after shifts.
• Identify and report air leaks promptly.
• Plan workflow to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.

Job description

Reporting to the workshop Manager, working closely with the Workshop Team Leader, this position will include final stage of truck preparation including where necessary: initial perparation prior to paint, primer and finished coat for all trucks that are completed in the workshop.

The role will require localised control and management of paint and preparation materials required to do the job

Tasks And Qualifications

• To comply with all aspects of Health and Safety ensuring H&S initiatives are embraced and incorporated in the role.
• To work to a high standard for preparation and finish of trucks that go through the paint process.
• To maintain a reasonable stock of paint, solvent, and preparation materials, and to reorder stock in a timely manner to ensure continuity of work through the paint shop.
• To manage your own PPE, to include suitable storage to protect the equipment when not in use.
• To maintain a clean and orderly paint bay inclusive of housekeeping and safe working environment.
• The check compressor oil levels and correct operation of any pressure regulators on a daily basis.
• To maintain and change extract filters to the required schedule.
• To carry out a startup and shutdown checks daily.
• To report any air leaks as they become apparent.
• To work efficiently planning work to reduce none productive time.
